PHX 11 Produces Special Program About Proposed City Budget

Feb. 5, 2010

In an effort to keep Phoenix residents informed about the city budget, PHX 11 has produced a 30-minute special that will air daily at various times through Tuesday, Feb. 9.

The program, “Budget Updates,” features city leaders discussing the 2009-10 and 2010-11 budget process and how the proposed budget reductions will affect residents. They also explain the 2 percent food-sales tax that was recently approved by the City Council.

Deborah Sedillo Dugan, acting director of the city’s Public Information Office, interviewed City Manager David Cavazos for the program, as well as City Librarian Toni Garvey, Budget and Research Director Cathleen Gleason, Public Safety Manager Jack Harris, Human Services Director Gloria Hurtado, Assistant Fire Chief Steve Kreis and Parks and Recreation Director Dale Larsen.

PHX 11 plans to produce additional “Budget Updates” segments leading up to the budget’s final adoption.

PHX 11 is the city’s award-winning news and information station broadcast on Cox Cable and accessible on the city’s Web site. For more information, visit phoenix.gov/11 or follow PHX 11 on twitter: www.twitter.com/watchphx11.
